28 government offices are being abolished in Pakistan

Pakistan has been plagued by political instability for several days. In addition, the whole country is in turmoil due to economic crisis. The country’s government is trying various ways to bring stability. As a part of this, the Prime Minister of Pakistan Shahbaz Sharif has decided to abolish 28 departments of 5 ministries and one and a half lakh government posts to reduce administrative expenses. This information was given in a report of the Pakistani media Dawn on Saturday.

According to the report, Pakistan is going to abolish 28 offices of 5 ministries to reduce government expenditure and simplify the state service system. This decision was taken in a meeting chaired by Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif on Friday. The five ministries to be abolished are the Ministry of Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan Affairs, the Ministry of States and Frontier Regions, the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunications, the Ministry of Industries and Manufacturing and the Ministry of National Health. According to a notification of the Prime Minister’s office, it was decided to abolish 28 departments under five ministries in the meeting. Apart from this, it has been proposed to merge two ministries and 12 institutions of 5 ministries.

The report also said that the Prime Minister of Pakistan has ordered to submit these proposals passed in the meeting to the Cabinet for final approval. Such decision has been taken to simplify the service system which reduces the cost of administration. Earlier, Shahbaz formed a committee to carry out administrative reforms. Basically these decisions have been taken in the light of the recommendations of this committee. Shahbaz Sharif said the government’s institutional reforms aimed at reducing the cost burden from the state exchequer and providing better services to the public. But many departments and agencies have become a burden to the government as they have not shown sufficient capacity to serve the people. He also commented that these offices and organizations should be closed immediately or left to the private sector. Analysts say, as a result of such a decision of the government, the jobs of more than one and a half lakh government officials and employees of these departments will be at risk.
