Bangladesh is the second largest exporter of ready-made garments in the world

Bangladesh retained the second position last year as a single country in the export of ready-made garments in the world. China tops the list. And Vietnam is in the third place by exporting 7 billion dollars less than Bangladesh.

This information has emerged in the report titled Key Insights and Trends of World Trade Statistics-2023 of the World Trade Organization (WTO).

The company published it on its website last Thursday.

According to the report, currently China’s market share is 31.64 percent. The figure given by the WTO for the country’s garment exports in 2023 is $9 billion less than the EPB.

According to the report of the organization, last year, Bangladesh exported clothes worth 3 thousand 8 billion dollars. Accordingly, the share of Bangladesh in the world market was 7.38 percent.

Meanwhile, even though China’s exports have decreased since before Corona, the country is still the top exporter of ready-made garments in the world market. Last year, China exported 165 billion or 16 thousand 5 billion dollars worth of ready-made garments. The previous year their exports were 182 billion or 18 thousand 200 million dollars. That means China’s garment exports fell by 9.34 percent last year.

Vietnam is the world’s third largest exporter of ready-made garments as a single country. Last year the country exported clothes worth 31 billion or 3 thousand 100 dollars. Their market share is 5.96 percent.

Bangladesh took the second place in 2020 after Vietnam. However, Bangladesh regained that position in 2021.
