Bangladesh will be second in GDP in South Asia: World Bank

At the end of the current fiscal year 2023-24, Bangladesh will rank second in South Asia in terms of gross domestic product (GDP) growth. And India will occupy the highest position. This information was given on Tuesday in a report entitled 'Bangladesh Development Update' at the World Bank's Dhaka office at Agargaon in the capital. According to the World Bank, India will achieve the highest GDP growth of 7 percent in South Asia by the end of the current financial year. And the second highest will be Bangladesh. The growth of this country will be 5.6 percent. In the financial year 2022-23 it was 5.8 percent. Then Bhutan will grow by 4.9 percent, Maldives by 4.7 percent, Nepal by 3.3 percent, Sri Lanka by 2.2 percent and Pakistan by 1.8 percent. Meanwhile, overall growth in South Asia will be 6 percent. As such, it is reported that the growth has decreased. Abdoulaye Sek, Country Director of World Bank, Ranjit Ghosh, Senior Economist of the organization, Bernard Haven were present at this time.
