A high-level US delegation is going to Dhaka today on a three-day visit. The US delegation will be led by US Treasury Assistant Under Secretary Brent Neiman. In addition, the delegation includes US State Department Assistant Secretary for South and Central Asia Donald Lu and USAID Deputy Assistant Administrator for Asia Anjali Kaur and others. During the visit, the delegation will meet with several advisers, including a meeting with the chief adviser of the interim government.

A source told Jugantar that the US delegation has a meeting with the head of the interim government this morning. The Finance Adviser and Foreign Affairs Adviser are scheduled to meet with the party. Besides, the party will have a working lunch with the foreign secretary. Separately, some members of the team are scheduled to hold technical meetings with the governor of Bangladesh Bank and the officials of the Ministry of Finance.

It is known that the importance of the discussion will be given to the strengthening of relations with Bangladesh after the political change in the student uprising. In addition, Washington will want to know the needs of Bangladesh to overcome the current crisis so that Bangladesh can turn around. But Donald Lu is coming to Dhaka via Delhi. There he jointly chaired the Washington-Delhi Intersessional Dialogue on Defense. In this meeting, besides the bilateral issues of the United States and India, the Bangladesh topic was discussed.

Foreign Secretary Md. on the visit of the US delegation on Thursday night. Jasim Uddin told reporters, I do not want to make any kind of comment that undermines the normality of the discussion before the meeting with the US delegation. All I can say is, the first United States delegation is coming after the formation of the interim government; The importance they give to this relationship is reflected in this. Looking at the identity of the members of the delegation, it is clear that this discussion will be multi-dimensional. It will not be limited to just one specific topic. We are preparing accordingly.

According to another source of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the issues of financial and economic cooperation will be important in this visit. Meanwhile, some of the analysts say that Washington is interested in discussing IPS issues with Dhaka to protect stability in the Indo-Pacific region. They advised to be careful in this regard.
