2 Indian soldiers killed in Kashmir clash

Two soldiers were killed in an attack by armed groups in Anantnag, Jammu and Kashmir, India. Indian media NDTV reported that there is now a heavy shelling.

The police said that the firing started in the Ahlan Gadolo section of Anantnag on Saturday (August 10) afternoon. At that time, the army personnel were conducting an anti-terrorist operation in the forests of Kokernag subdivision. Then the armed group members attacked the army’s patrol car. This is believed to be the cause of death.

Army’s Special Forces, Paratroopers participated in this operation. Those being raided are suspected to be foreign nationals.

This is the second major attack in Kokernag in the last one year. Earlier in September last year, a commanding officer, an army major and a deputy superintendent of police were killed in firing at Kokernag.

“Two civilians were injured in the indiscriminate and barbaric attack by the terrorists,” the Indian Army’s China Corps said in a post on micro-blogging site X. They were given immediate treatment and evacuated. The operation is still ongoing.”

NDTV reported that additional army personnel are being sent to take control of the area after removing the members of the armed group.
