29 Maoists including top leaders were killed in an encounter in India

29 Maoists, including their top leader Shankar Rao, were killed in a clash between Maoists and security forces in India’s Chhattisgarh. Three security guards were injured.

According to Indian media NDTV, this clash between the Maoists and the joint force of Chhattisgarh Police District Reserve Guard and BSF took place in Kanker district on Tuesday afternoon. The price of the top leader of the slain Maoists was Tk 32 lakh.

District Reserve Guard (DRG) and Border Security Force (BSF) launched the operation around 2 pm on Tuesday. A spokesperson of BSF said that DRG and BSF conducted a joint operation in the Kalpar forest of Chotebetia police station of Chhattisgarh after receiving information from special sources.

During the raid, seven AK-47s, three light machine guns and huge weapons were recovered from the spot, police said.

Last month too, a Maoist was killed in a clash with security guards in Chhattisgarh. A security guard was also killed at that time. Police recovered explosives and guns from the scene. Besides, three Maoists were killed in another encounter in Kanker in February as well.
