30 people lost their lives due to severe floods in Assam

Assam, India has faced a severe flood situation. Due to incessant rains, the floods have become so dire that 30 people have lost their lives. 1 lakh 61 thousand people are trapped in desperate situation. Such dire conditions were seen across 15 districts of the state.

According to reports, people’s lives have been disrupted due to these floods. Not only that, landslides have increased with it. This collapse occurred in Badarpur area of ​​Karimganj district. So that five members of the same family have died. In this terrible flood, only wails and cries of bereaved relatives can be heard across Assam.

In this regard, Superintendent of Police of Karimganj district Parthapratim Das said, “There is a storm with continuous rain. In the meantime, the news of landslides came in the village of Gainachora on Tuesday midnight. After that, the OC of Badarpur police station went to the spot with the policemen. SDRF forces also reached there. A joint rescue operation has started. Five bodies were recovered from the rubble after three hours of rescue work

The deceased were Raymun Nessa (55), her three daughters Shahida Khanam (18), Zahida Khanam (16) and Hamida Khanam (11). And three-year-old son Mehdi Hasan.

According to local sources, an atmosphere of panic has been created in the entire Assam due to storm and flood. Houses, cattle, agricultural land are all under water.

The Assam Disaster Management Authority said that Karimganj district was the worst affected by the floods. One lakh 52 thousand 133 people are living a helpless life in flood water.

Besides, 1 thousand 378.64 hectares of cultivated land is submerged in water due to natural disasters. 54 thousand 877 cattle are also under water. Now 470 villages and 24 revenue circles are waterlogged. Rescue work is going on. 5 thousand 114 people have been brought to shelter camps. 43 relief camps have been opened.

Due to this flood, the infrastructure of the village, roads, bridges have been severely damaged. All help is being done. The Kapili river here is flowing above the danger limit.

This flood has affected Bishwanath, Lakhimpur, Hojai, Bangaigangaon, Nalbari, Tamulpur, Udalguri, Darang, Dhemaji, Hailakandi, Karimganj, Goalpara, Nagaon, Chirang and Kokrajhar areas.
