A bomb exploded in an army vehicle near the border with Afghanistan in northwestern Pakistan. Five Pakistani soldiers were killed. News from Anadolu Agency
This information was given in a statement by the Pakistani army.
According to the statement, the incident took place on Friday (June 21) in the mountainous Khurram district of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of the country. The Pakistani Taliban and the Islamic State group (IS) have long been active in that area of Pakistan.
The statement also said that five members of the army were killed in the explosion of a bomb planted in advance in the vehicle of the security forces. However, no one immediately claimed responsibility for the attack.
The Taliban have occasionally attacked security forces in that area of Pakistan. The organization is known as Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP). Such attacks have increased since the Taliban returned to Afghanistan in August 2021.
