6 people were killed in a suicide bomb attack in Kabul, the capital of Afghanistan. 13 more people were injured in this incident. The attack took place in the southern area of Kabul on Monday afternoon local time.
Kabul Police Spokesman Khalid Zadran wrote in a post on social media X that a person wearing explosives detonated on Monday afternoon. Unfortunately six civilians including a woman were killed and 13 injured.
Meanwhile, no one immediately claimed responsibility for the attack. Spokesperson Zadran said that the investigation is ongoing.
Violence in Afghanistan has declined since a two-decade war between foreign forces and Islamist insurgents ended in 2021. However, a regional chapter of the Islamic State known as the Islamic State Khorasan remains active in Afghanistan. They regularly target civilians, foreigners and Taliban officials with gun and bomb attacks.
