35 people died in rain-thunderstorm in Afghanistan

Heavy rains and thunderstorms have killed at least 35 people in eastern Afghanistan. More than two hundred people were injured in this incident.

The head of the country's information and culture department, Quraishi Badloon, said that 35 people died in some districts of Jalalabad and Nangarhar provinces due to heavy storms and rain on Monday evening. Apart from this, 230 more people were injured. It is feared that the number of casualties may increase in this incident.

Earlier, hundreds of people lost their lives in flash floods in Afghanistan last May. At that time, agricultural land in many parts of the country was flooded.

Incidentally, last May, more than four hundred people lost their lives due to sudden floods in the country.

Notably, the United Nations has placed Afghanistan at the top of the list of countries most at risk from climate change. The country is regularly hit by natural calamities.

In 2021, the Taliban seized power by overthrowing the internationally recognized government through a military coup. Since then, all international development agencies have withdrawn funding from the country. The country does not receive relief aid as before. As a result, the Afghan economy collapsed. In the next few years, the situation in the country worsened.
