Sheikh Hasina fled the country and sought refuge in India on August 5 due to student protests and popular uprising. After the fall of the government, the leaders and activists of Awami League came under the wrath of the people. At this time, some houses of minorities were also attacked.

Various Indian accounts spread misinformation on social media about attacks on minorities in Bangladesh. Indian media also shows old scenes and makes false claims. Political leaders also gave provocative speeches.

On Saturday (August 24), the Chief Minister of India’s northeastern state of Assam, Himanta Biswa Sharma, opened up about the entry of Bangladeshi Hindus into India. He told Indian news agency PTI that not a single Hindu from Bangladesh tried to enter India after the fall of Sheikh Hasina.

In his words, ‘Hindus are staying in Bangladesh and are fighting. Not a single Hindu has been caught trying to enter India in the last one month. But Himanta claimed that 35 Muslim infiltrators have been arrested in the last one month. Their target is not Assam, but they are infiltrating Bangalore, Tamil Nadu, Coimbatore to work in the textile industry.
