Tripura's loss due to floods is Tk 21 thousand crore: Chief Minister

The Chief Minister of the state said that the recent floods in Tripura have caused an estimated loss of Rs 15,000 crore. Its amount in Bangladeshi currency is more than 21 thousand 200 crores. Chief Minister Manik Saha said the floods have damaged a large number of infrastructure, agriculture and other properties in India’s northeastern state.

After an all-party meeting on Saturday (August 24), the Chief Minister of Tripura said that the level of destruction caused by the flood is extensive. The estimated loss may reach 15 thousand crore rupees. However, after the final assessment of the damage, he feels that the amount may increase.

Manik Saha said at least 2,588 landslides and 1,603 electric posts were damaged in Tripura due to floods.

The chief minister said that their all-party meeting was fruitful. Representatives of major political parties in the state have pledged to work together in this critical time.

The parties suggested that the state government would request a central team to assess the damage and seek additional assistance. They also recommended increasing financial assistance to the affected people.

It is reported that at least 24 people have died due to floods in Tripura since August 19. 1 lakh 28 thousand people were forced to leave their homes and take shelter elsewhere.
