Over the past few weeks, terrorist attacks have caused widespread unrest in Pakistan’s Balochistan province. The country’s security forces are struggling to restore and maintain the law and order situation.
Sindh Governor Kamran Tesori has claimed that the Indian intelligence agency’s Research and Analysis Wing (RA) is behind the ongoing violence and chaotic situation. He claimed that India does not want the improvement of Pakistan’s foreign relations.
Kamran said, “This conspiracy is being made against us from two places. Indian intelligence in Afghanistan is involved in these violence. All these activities are being conducted in Pakistan through Indian setup in Afghanistan”.
Balochistan is the most important province of Pakistan for various reasons including geographical issues. The central government of Pakistan has taken many development projects to improve the quality of life and expand business there. Pakistan is establishing an economic corridor there with investments from Saudi Arabia, Türkiye, China and the United Arab Emirates.
According to Kamran, India does not want foreign investment in Balochistan.
He also said, ‘These anarchists are behind Pakistan’s economy and armed forces. Indian intelligence agencies do not want these projects to be completed in Pakistan. They do not want Pakistan to improve its relations with its neighbours.
Sporadic clashes between security forces and armed groups have been taking place in Balochistan for the past few decades. But recently it has increased several times.
Last Sunday night, gunmen stopped many passenger cars, vans and trucks on Inter-Pradesh highway in Rorasham area. From these vehicles, gunmen selectively killed 23 Punjabis. The highway connects Punjab and Balochistan. They also collapsed an important railway bridge there.
The Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) claimed responsibility for the attack. It was the deadliest terrorist attack in the province in the last few years. Besides the BLA, many other armed groups are active there.
