The Taliban government has banned mixed martial arts (MMA) in Afghanistan. An official of the country’s sports authority told local media.
This decision has been taken for allegedly being inconsistent with Islamic law.
The sports official told the local media ToloNews that the game is not only incompatible with religion, it is quite brutal. There is a risk of death. The Act was passed by the Policy Police under Afghanistan’s Ministry of Ethics.
French news agency AFP was told by the Taliban’s director general’s office of physical education and sports, “This sport is in conflict with Sharia and Islamic teachings.” That is why the decision has been taken.
