Relations With Russia Good Compared to With US: Muttaqi

Amir Khan Muttaqi, the acting foreign minister, said in an interview with a Russian media outlet that the interim government’s relations with Russia are at a good level compared to the United States.

In the interview, Muttaqi also mentioned that Daesh does not have a physical presence in Afghanistan and that the attacks carried out in the country were conducted by foreign individuals in Afghanistan.

The acting minister of foreign affairs said: “We have nearly four hundred million dollars in trade with Russia. Kabulov visited Kabul several times, and we met, and we also went to Moscow. These relations are better than those we have with the United States.”

Amir Khan Muttaqi further added that Daesh existed in Afghanistan during the presence of foreign forces; however, now this group does not physically control any part of Afghanistan. In his view, some of the attacks carried out in the country were perpetrated by Daesh members who came to Afghanistan from other countries.

The acting minister of foreign affairs added: “Currently, there is no Daesh in Afghanistan, and among the forty million population of Afghanistan, not a single person can testify to the presence of a Daesh member.”

Muttaqi emphasized in another part of the interview that if Pakistan violates Afghanistan’s airspace again, it will face a severe response.

He added: “As far as Pakistan’s actions are concerned, if they violate Afghanistan’s airspace, we have condemned it and have responded. If they do it again in the future, we will condemn it and respond accordingly.”

Amir Khan Muttaqi also said that NATO forces committed war crimes in the country over the past twenty years, which cannot be compensated, and these countries must pay war reparations to the victims of the twenty-year war.
