The missile attack by Iran last night (Tuesday), which marks the second direct military confrontation between the two sides, has heightened concerns over the potential spread of conflict in the region.
Moeen Gul Samakni, a political analyst, commented on the effects of Iran’s missile strike on Israel: “Israel will certainly retaliate. In any case, the first consequence will be that life becomes difficult for Afghan refugees in Iran, forcing them to return to Afghanistan. Iranians may also flee to Afghanistan because they won’t be able to live in a state of war.”
Sayed Akbar Sial Wardak, another political analyst, added: “Whenever a war breaks out in the region, its effects on neighboring countries, both politically and in other areas, will be negative. The United Nations must take firm steps to prevent this war and resolve the Middle Eastern tension through negotiations.”
Iran launched the missile attack on Israel after the deaths of Hezbollah leader Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, former Hamas political bureau head Ismail Haniyeh, and several senior Iranian military commanders in Israeli attacks. Along with Nasrallah’s death, several Hezbollah members were also killed in Israeli strikes in southern Beirut.
Ismail Haniyeh, who was in Tehran to attend Masoud Pezeshkian’s inauguration ceremony, was killed in a recent Israeli attack in Tehran.
Meanwhile, the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan condemned Israel’s airstrikes on Lebanon, Palestine, Syria, and Yemen, as well as the ground attack on Lebanon, calling them inhumane and in violation of all international laws. The Afghan government strongly denounced these actions on Tuesday.
