Minorities need protection in Bangladesh: Indian External Affairs Minister

India’s External Affairs Ministry said the attack on the Durga Puja mandap in Bangladesh was “uncalled for” and did not send the right message about social harmony.

In a press briefing in New Delhi on Friday, the spokesperson of the ministry, Randhir Jaiswal, made this comment in response to a journalist’s question.

He said that India has repeatedly informed Bangladesh about the issue of minorities and said that minorities need protection there.

Jaiswal said, the issue of attack on Durga Puja mandap should be seen in the perspective of Bangladesh.
