10 people died in floods in Meghalaya

10 people have died in floods caused by heavy rains in the Garo Hills region of Meghalaya state, India.

The Hindustan Times reported on Sunday, quoting local officials, that seven of the dead were from South Garo Hills and three from West Garo Hills district.

These two districts have suffered the most damage due to floods. Meghalaya Chief Minister Konrad K in a press conference on Saturday morning. Sangma said that the local administrations of 5 districts have been directed to evacuate the residents from the flood-affected areas to safe places and start relief operations.

Also, if any assistance is required, the state government has been asked to inform immediately.
