The United States has reiterated the assurance of strong cooperation to Bangladesh

The United States reiterated its assurance of strong cooperation in democratic reforms and economic restructuring of Bangladesh. Besides, the country emphasized the importance of Dhaka-Washington cooperation in the security and prosperity of South Asia.

This was revealed in the reaction given to the X handle by the senior officials of the United States after the discussion with the foreign secretary of Bangladesh. Foreign Secretary Jasim Uddin, who is visiting the United States, arrived in Washington on Wednesday night. On Thursday, Bangladesh’s foreign secretary had a key meeting with US acting undersecretary for political affairs, John Bass.

In addition, on his draft agenda, there will be a meeting with Lindsay Ford, the senior director of South Asia Affairs of the US National Security Council, Richard Verma, Deputy Secretary of State, and Brendan Lynch, the Assistant Trade Representative.

In between these meetings, he attended a luncheon with senior officials of the US State Department. US Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asia Donald Lew was present there along with others.

Acting Under Secretary for Political Affairs John Bass X Handley wrote, ‘I appreciate the discussion with Secretary of State Jasim Uddin about our common goals on economic and counter-terrorism. We discussed the special importance of US-Bangladesh cooperation in terms of regional security and prosperity.

US Deputy Secretary of State Richard Verma wrote in X after the discussion, ‘It is a pleasure for me to meet the Foreign Secretary of Bangladesh Jasim Uddin. I have reiterated to him the support of the United States regarding the democratic reforms, stability and economic strengthening of Bangladesh.

Meanwhile, US Acting Assistant Secretary of State for Population, Refugees and Immigration Martha Costanzo Youth attended a lunch hosted by Ambassador-in-Charge DM Salahuddin Mahmood in Washington in honor of Bangladesh’s Foreign Secretary.

After that lunch, Martha Costanzo wrote in her ex, had an excellent discussion with the Foreign Secretary of Bangladesh. The United States and Bangladesh have been working as partners since the beginning of the Rohingya crisis.

The United States is committed to responding to the Rohingya crisis and to other donors playing a greater role.

By the way, the interim government’s chief advisor Dr. US President Joe Biden had a rare meeting with Muhammad Yunus. In that meeting, he assured strong cooperation in democratic reforms and economic restructuring of Bangladesh.

Then US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken met with the head of the interim government of Bangladesh. There was a detailed discussion about the cooperation between the two countries.

Earlier, a high-level delegation of the United States visited Bangladesh on September 15. In continuation of these visits and meetings, the Secretary of State is now visiting Washington.
