A search for life is going on in the wrecked road

Due to heavy rain last Tuesday morning, a mudslide fell and turned into a ruin in Wenard, Kerala, India. As rescue work progresses, the death toll is increasing by leaps and bounds. At least 166 people are reported to have died under the collapse so far.

In the meantime, pictures of the Wenad disaster have come to light. The pictures show that the city in Kerala has been reduced to rubble. All around are images of destruction and wailing. Close people are searching for the loss of relatives.

The camera captured how village after village was washed away. Water is flowing over those villages. The picture captures how a mother is looking for safe shelter with the rescuers crying with the child in her arms.

Meppadi, Mundakai and Chural Mala and Nulpuzha in Waynard district were the worst hit due to heavy rains and landslides.

According to a report by news agency PTI, hundreds of people are still trapped under the rubble in different areas of Waynar. The administration has started to rescue them. Locals also got involved. However, rescue operations are being repeatedly disrupted due to heavy rains. The army has been called to speed up the rescue operation.

The gerbera has been raining heavily for the past few days. According to local sources, the first landslide occurred in the hilly area of ​​Wenard district around 3 am on Tuesday.

An hour later there was news of another collapse. Early in the morning, the National Disaster Management Department joined the rescue operation with the State Disaster Management Department.

Kerala Revenue Minister Rajan said on Tuesday morning that eight people have died. However, the death toll increased with time.

According to local media reports, a one-year-old child also died due to the collapse. 16 injured people are undergoing treatment in a hospital in Meppadi area. Chief Minister Vijayan said in a brief statement, “All steps have been taken to speed up the rescue operation.” Kerala Minister Veena George said that the Indian Navy is assisting in the rescue operation. The only bridge connecting the affected areas with the rest of the country was swept away by heavy rains.
