Agreement with prison authorities, appointment of 3 focal persons by Imran

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf and PTI founder Imran Khan on Saturday signed an agreement with Adiala Jail authorities. He appointed three persons as focal persons to meet him as per the terms of the agreement.

Imran Khan has appointed PTI chairman Barrister Gohar Khan, Sher Afzal Marwat and Barrister Umair Niazi as his focal persons, according to a document signed by the former prime minister as well as the superintendent of Adiala Jail, Geo News reported.

As per the terms of the court-ordered agreement, each focal person will provide two names per week to meet with the jailed former prime minister, who will be allowed to meet family members and his lawyers every Tuesday and Thursday.

According to reports, this development came after both sides agreed to hold a meeting inside the jail in light of the order of the concerned court.

According to the Pakistani media, according to the terms of the agreement, the meeting time will be between 30 and 45 minutes and a maximum of 6 people can attend each session.

Incidentally, earlier this month, the Punjab government banned meetings inside prisons due to the safety of inmates. In the face of widespread criticism, Punjab Information Minister Ajma Bukhari said that this step was not taken with the aim of disrupting Imran Khan’s meeting, but was actually taken as a precautionary measure in view of a serious threat.

The ban came after the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) arrested three terrorists and recovered a map of Adiala Jail, a hand grenade and an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) from them.

According to Rawalpindi City Police Officer (CPO) Khalid Hamdani, the police recovered automatic weapons and ammunition from the terrorists.

The CPO also said that the terrorists were from Afghanistan, further investigation is on.

Earlier on November 7 last year, police found a suspicious bag containing an explosive device near Adiala Road in Gorakhpur, Rawalpindi, just one kilometer from Adiala Jail.
