Assam to set up police outposts at 12 important places on Bangladesh border
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has announced the setting up of police outposts at at least 12 important places along the Bangladesh border.

Indian law enforcement agencies have arrested Bangladeshi infiltrators in various states of India in recent times. Various hardline political parties including the BJP have claimed that infiltrators have increased in Assam too. In such an environment, the Assam state government has announced to increase surveillance on the Bangladesh border again
These new security outposts will be located in the border districts of Cachar, Karimganj, Dhubri and South Salmara in Assam, to facilitate strong border management and ensure the safety of local residents.
In the last two months, Assam Police has stopped more than 130 illegal infiltrators from trying to enter the state.
The last such attempt was foiled by Assam Police on October 22. They arrested three persons named Hasmat Ali, Bithi Khatun and Rima Khatun.
In a post on social media, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma praised the state police for their swift and decisive action.
He stressed Assam’s commitment to the state’s ongoing efforts to ensure heightened vigilance against illegal entry and secure its borders.
Chief Minister Biswa Sarma also said that this step is very important for maintaining peace and stability in the border areas of Assam.
