The formal meeting of the 55th Border Conference between the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and the Border Security Force (BSF) of India is likely to take place in October.A high-ranking delegation of Bangladesh may go to India next October to participate in this bilateral conference.

This will be the 55th meeting between BGB and BSF chiefs. The Times of India reported this news on Thursday on the Indian news agency PTI.

A source told PTI that Bangladesh was offered two dates for the conference by India. One in late September, another in October. Meanwhile, the relevant authorities of Bangladesh have indicated to send a representative in October. However, none of the parties could confirm whether the conference could take place in October.

The report also said that the last meeting was held in Dhaka in March this year. In that meeting, BSF Director General Nitin Agrawal took Bangladesh’s consent to build a row of fences at 92 dangerous places along the 4,000 km Bangladesh-India border.

However, the situation is not the same as the government of India’s tested ally Sheikh Hasina, who has been in power for a long time, has fallen.
