BJP will be punished for world's biggest scam: says Finance Minister's husband

If electoral bonds become a burden for the BJP in the run-up to the polls, the comments of V Ananth Nageswaran, Chief Financial Adviser to the Central Government, have raised eyebrows. In an event, he said, it is not possible for the government to solve all social and economic problems including unemployment.

The day after Nageswaran made this comment, eminent economist and writer Parakala Prabhakar informed that electoral bonds are the biggest financial corruption not only of the country but also of the world. Voters of the country are going to punish BJP severely for this scam.

Another identity of Parakala Prabhakar is the husband of Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. He has also criticized the government policy regarding the country’s economic condition. His wife Nirmala is not contesting this time. This Rajya Sabha member was offered by his party to contest in the Lok Sabha from Tamil Nadu this time.

Nirmala said that she has told the party that she does not have the financial strength to stand in the polls. The double blow of Nageswaran and Prabhakar in the face of the polls has put the BJP in a dilemma.

Narendra Modi has been repeatedly criticized over employment and unemployment during his 10-year rule. Time and again he has dealt with it in his own way. The International Labor Organization (ILO) and the Institute for Human Development (IHD) have prepared the ‘India Employment Report 2024’ on these two issues.

Nageswaran was present at the event where the report was published in the capital Delhi last Tuesday. According to the report, the percentage of educated among the total unemployed population of India was 35.20 percent in 2000, it increased to 65.70 percent in 2022. 83 percent of them are educated youth.

Releasing the report, Nageswaran said that it should not be assumed that the government will solve all financial and social problems. There is no reason to think that government should intervene everywhere. We need to get out of this mindset. Industrial and commercial sector should be proactive.

Nageswaran said, the government has taken many steps thinking about the future. That is the government’s job. It is not right for the government to be hostage to politics.

This report and the comments of the Chief Economic Adviser of the government are not giving up on the opposition. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi said on Wednesday, “Since the beginning of India Joro Yatra, I have been saying that unemployment and price rise are the biggest problems of the country. I have been repeatedly asking the question whether the Modi government has the right to address it. Now I got his answer.

Former Union Finance Minister P Chidambaram said Nageswaran had spoken explosively. If this is what the government is talking about, then I say leave the mattress now.

Saket Gokhale of Trinamool Congress said that this is Modi’s guarantee. The Prime Minister has so far denied the skyrocketing unemployment. Now the government has accepted that they do not have the power to solve the problem.

CPM General Secretary Sitaram Yechury’s comment, Hindutva and corporate duopoly is paralyzing India. This government should go now for the sake of the country.

According to this report, only 17.50 percent of the youth in the village are working regularly. 26 percent of them are associated with factories. The percentage of young people involved in various financial activities has dropped from 42 percent to 37 percent in the ten years since 2012. The unemployment rate has tripled in the last 14 years.

No one in the government has spoken publicly about Nageswaran’s comments. As no one commented on Parakala Prabhakar’s comment. In fact, after the Supreme Court struck down electoral bonds as unconstitutional, Prime Minister Modi did not comment on them even once.

Home Minister Amit Shah said in an interview that the government’s intention was to stop black money in elections. The Supreme Court should see what happens now.

Clearly the government is in serious trouble with the bonds. Parakala said, as much as there is noise about the bond now, it will increase a lot during the polls. This election battle will no longer be BJP versus opposition. It will be BJP vs Amjantar. Slowly people are understanding everything. BJP will get the punishment from the voters for this biggest scam in the world. Added to this is Nageswaran’s comment on the employment report. BJP’s double irony before the polls.
