BO accounts of former IGP of Bangladesh and his wife and children are frozen

Beneficiary Owners (BO) accounts in the names of former Inspector General of Police (IGP) Benazir Ahmed and his wife Zeeshan Mirza, eldest daughter Farhin Rishta bint Benazir and younger daughter Tahsin Raisa bint Benazir have been ordered to be blocked.

Earlier on May 23 and 26, in view of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) application, the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Mohammad Assamach Jaglul Hossain ordered the seizure (croc) of various property documents, flats and shares of the company in the name of Benazir Ahmed, his wife and children.

In view of the said order, capital market regulator Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission has ordered Central Depository Bangladesh Limited (CDBL), the electronic share depository of the capital market, to freeze all BO accounts (Beneficiary Owners Accounts) in the name of Benazir Ahmed, his wife, elder daughter and younger daughter. (BSEC).

Funds cannot be deposited into blocked accounts or withdrawn under any circumstances while an order is active.
