China will increase water management cooperation: Bangladesh’s environmental advisor
Syeda Rizwana Hasan, Advisor on Water Resources and Environment of Bangladesh, said that China will increase assistance in water management and conservation in Bangladesh. They promised to share water related information during floods. The country also offered to increase technical cooperation and training between the two countries.
Chinese Ambassador Yao Wen made this promise during a courtesy call at his office of the Environment Adviser at the Secretariat on Wednesday. In the meeting, there was a discussion on increasing cooperation in water management and environmental protection between the two countries.
Syeda Rizwana Hasan said that it has been proposed to form a joint committee to increase cooperation in water management. Through this, river management, flood prevention and infrastructure projects can be worked together. He said that the cooperation of friendly countries like China is necessary to protect the environment and combat climate change.
The Chinese ambassador said that China is a true friend of Bangladesh and this relationship will get stronger. He is of Bangladesh in the fields of river pollution control, solar energy, electric vehicles, flood control and smart water management

Two secretaries of Ministry of Environment and Water Resources, Director General of Bangladesh Water Development Board and Chinese Embassy officials were present in the meeting. The meeting concluded with hopes for increased cooperation between the two countries in the future.
