Cyber ​​attack on 300 banking services in India

More than 300 banks in India were victims of cyber attacks. According to Reuters, the money exchange services of 300 small banks in India have been temporarily disrupted due to the “Ransomaire” attack. The Indian news media reported this news with reference to the news agency Reuters. Those banks were attacked by the transaction technology provider ‘C-Edge Technology’ Ransomware. However, no comment was made by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), the central bank of India.

The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) issued a notification on Wednesday informing about the cyber attack.

“C-Edge Technology” has been temporarily decoupled from the retail transaction system operated by NPCI, they said.

NPCI also said that customers of banks that used technology from ‘C-Edge Technology’ will temporarily not be able to exchange money. Those banks have been temporarily cut off from the country’s money transfer network services.

According to a source in NPCI, there are about 1500 cooperative and regional banks in India. Most of which operate outside major cities. Some of these banks have been damaged. Most of which are small banks.

This cyber attack affected only a small portion of India’s total transaction services. NPCI is conducting an audit to ensure that this attack does not spread.
