Death toll rises to 14 after billboards collapse in storm in India

14 people were killed when a huge billboard collapsed in a thunderstorm. Another 74 people were injured in this incident. This incident happened in Mumbai, the economic city of India.

According to Indian media sources, when a strong storm started suddenly on Monday afternoon, the billboard collapsed and many people were buried under it. Because the billboard was next to a busy road.

Video captured during the storm shows the billboard collapsing on a petrol pump. Due to which the roof of the petrol pump collapsed. Some cars standing at the petrol pump were also crushed. The metal structure of the billboard penetrated the roofs of many cars.

The National Disaster Response Force worked to remove the billboard immediately after the accident. But due to inclement weather, the work of removing the billboard continued till Tuesday morning. In this incident, traffic was stopped on some roads. Mumbai’s busy airport is also affected.

The Maharashtra government has ordered an investigation into the incident, said Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.

The Mumbai Municipal Corporation said 74 people were injured in the accident. They were rescued and taken to hospital. 31 people were discharged after treatment.

The Maharashtra Meteorological Department issued a warning shortly before the storm hit on Monday afternoon. Residents of Mumbai, Palghar and Thane were warned of any major change in weather. A few minutes later, the glittering city on the shores of the Arabian Sea was destroyed by the storm. The entire city turns gray in the dust.
