Delhi Chief Minister Kejriwal got bail

Arvind Kejriwal, Chief Minister of Delhi state and founder of Aam Aadmi Party, has been granted bail by the Supreme Court of Delhi. Kejriwal granted interim bail till June 1.

A bench comprising Justices Sanjeev Khanna and Dipankar Dutt on Friday granted bail to Kejriwal till June 1 to participate in the election campaign. That day was the last day of voting for the ongoing seven-phase Lok Sabha elections. News from AFP and Hindustan Times.

According to reports, the Aam Aadmi Party (UP) chief will remain out of jail till the last phase of Lok Sabha polls on June 1. He was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on March 21 in the Delhi Excise corruption case. Since then, Kejriwal is imprisoned in Tihar.

The Supreme Court said he will have to surrender to the jail authorities on June 2.

The Supreme Court said that Kejriwal will be released from jail on Friday. West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee expressed her happiness on social media after receiving this news.

He wrote, ‘I am very happy to see that Arvind Kejriwal has been granted interim bail. It is going to be very helpful in view of the current elections.

Kejriwal filed a petition in the Supreme Court seeking bail to allow him to campaign in the ongoing Lok Sabha elections.
