The Federal Court of the United Arab Emirates declared amnesty to 57 Bangladeshis, the chief advisor of the interim government. Muhammad Yunus expressed his gratitude to the country’s President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

In a letter sent to thank the president of the Arab Emirates on Tuesday. Yunus said, expressing deep gratitude for your magnanimity and sympathetic decision to the 57 Bangladeshis who were convicted for protesting in several cities of the Arab-Emirate in solidarity with the student movement.

In a phone conversation with the President of the Arab Emirates on August 28, Professor Yunus requested to pardon the sentenced Bangladeshis. Referring to this context, Professor Yunus said, this pardon is not only an example of compassionate leadership of the UAE President, but this step will serve as a means of strengthening the existing brotherly bonds of the two countries.

Professor Yunus mentioned in his letter, that your generous decision to quash their punishment has created a sense of relief and gratitude among the families of the concerned persons and the common people of Bangladesh, and at the same time, relief has returned among Bangladeshis staying in the Arab-Emirates. Your compassion and sincere understanding touched us deeply.

Dr. Yunus expressed full respect for UAE laws in this context and promised to educate the host countries about local laws and culture before sending workers from Bangladesh.

We fully respect the laws of the UAE and reiterate our commitment to properly inform and educate our citizens about the laws, values ​​and culture of their respective countries before traveling abroad.

Professor Yunus mentioned in the letter that Zayed Al Nahyan’s generous decision will further strengthen the brotherly and friendly relations between the two countries. He expressed hope to work together to further strengthen bilateral relations for the mutual benefit of the people of both countries.

The Chief Adviser wished the UAE President good health and said, I wish you good health, happiness, longevity and peace, progress and prosperity of the brotherly people of the UAE.
