A spokesman for the airline said that on Sunday morning, a Spice Jet SG-124 flight took off at 10:29 am. At that time, a bird hit engine number 2 on the way from Delhi to Leh. The plane made an emergency landing in Delhi to deal with the situation. The plane was carrying a total of 135 passengers along with several crew members.
Meanwhile, last week, two flights of Air India and Air India Express made emergency landings due to mechanical problems. On May 19, an Air India Express flight was en route from Bengaluru to Kochi with 179 passengers and 6 crew members on board. It made an emergency landing at Bangalore Airport after the right engine caught fire.
Just two days before this incident, on May 17, an Air India plane crashed. Smoke was seen billowing from the air conditioning unit of the plane shortly after it took off from Delhi with 175 passengers on board. The plane made an emergency landing at the Delhi airport.
