Emir of Qatar is visiting Bangladesh

Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani is coming to Dhaka for the first time on his visit to Bangladesh. He is coming to Bangladesh on Monday, April 22.

According to diplomatic sources, 10 agreements and memorandums of understanding will be signed during the visit of the Emir of Qatar. These agreements include promotion of trade and investment, exchange of prisoners, elimination of double taxation and mutual cooperation in customs matters.

The memorandum of understanding includes the export of manpower from Bangladesh to Qatar, cooperation in religious matters, involvement of Qatari institution Mawani in port management, cooperation in higher education and training of diplomats.

It is known that during the recent conflict between Iran and Israel, the Middle East situation will be important in the discussion during the visit of the Emir of Qatar.

Diplomats from both sides are working to complete last-minute preparations for the upcoming visit of Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani of Qatar, diplomatic sources said.

An advance team from Doha arrived in Dhaka last Monday in view of the upcoming tour. On the occasion of Amir’s visit, they inquired about all matters including security and held a meeting at the Prime Minister’s office last Tuesday.

Incidentally, in 2005, the then Emir of Qatar Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al Thani came to Bangladesh.
