Exam chief suspended in India amid protests

The head of India’s National Testing Agency (NTA) has been sacked recently after allegations of widespread irregularities in admission tests for higher education. So far NTA Director General was Subodh Kumar Singh. He was sacked by the central government on Saturday. BBC news

Retired IAS officer Pradeep Singh Kharola was appointed in his place on Saturday. Besides, the central government has formed a high-level committee to maintain transparency in all large-scale examinations of the country.

The committee which has been constituted will give necessary suggestions to bring transparency in all important exams including NET, NET. At the same time, they are also responsible for checking all the activities and working methods of NTA. The committee has been directed to submit a special report to the Center within the next 2 months.

There is an uproar across India over the cancellation of the UGC NET exam on the grounds of NET question leakage and delay. Along with this, the pressure of the opposition on the new Modi government is increasing. In such an embarrassing situation, the central government has decided to dismiss the head of NTA along with canceling several exams. Still, student protests are growing across the country.

Medical admission test in India is called National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test or NEET. This exam is organized by NTA. And NET is the entrance exam for research and college-university teachers.
