Fierce fire in Gujarat gaming zone, 20 killed

20 people died in a massive fire in a gaming zone in Rajkot, Gujarat, India. Rescue operations are underway at the spot. Officials said that the fire took place on Saturday evening.

Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel has directed officials to provide immediate treatment to those injured in the incident.

Bhupendra Patel said that the municipal corporation and administration have been instructed for immediate rescue and relief operations in the case of fire in the gaming zone of Rajkot. It has also been asked to give priority to the immediate treatment of the injured.

Rajkot Police Commissioner Raju Bhargava said the fire broke out in the TRP gaming zone and there were reports of some casualties. I cannot say the exact cause of the fire. This is subject to investigation. Rescue operations are underway and several firefighting units have been deployed. We will speak to the fire brigade officials to discuss what action should be taken.

Rajkot Municipal Commissioner Anand Patel said four people have died but the exact number will be known only after the rescue operation is over.

A fire brigade official told news agency ANI that the cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained. Efforts are underway to extinguish the fire. We have not received any missing person messages. Rescue operations are facing difficulties due to infrastructural problems.
