Govt wants to cripple Congress economically: Sonia

Prime Minister Narendra Modi wants to cripple the Indian National Congress economically. Alleging this, Congress leader Sonia Gandhi said on Thursday that the government is doing this in a well-planned manner. They want to kill Congress. Efforts are being made to ensure that the fees collected from the people are not used. Congress bank accounts are being seized. The government is also forcibly withdrawing money from banks.

In a press conference, Sonia Gandhi made these accusations and said that this behavior of the government is a heinous attack not only on the Congress, but on the democratic system of the country.

Responding to the allegations just ahead of the Lok Sabha elections, the BJP, however, said that the Congress was making pretexts as it saw defeat as inevitable.

Sonia was flanked by party president Mallikarjun Kharge, Rahul Gandhi, Jairam Ramesh and treasurer Ajay Maken at the press conference. Taking umbrage at Sonia’s complaint, Kharge said that the Prime Minister repeatedly talked about fair and free elections. If the government really wants it, it should let Congress use its bank account.

Sonia, however, said to keep the morale of the party workers strong, despite these odds, we have continued our election campaign. On the one hand, there is the issue of electoral bonds, from which the ruling party has collected money. On the other hand, attempts are being made to cripple and cripple the main opposition parties by seizing their bank accounts and forcibly withdrawing money from them. It is unprecedented and undemocratic.

A few days ago, the Congress had alleged that Rs 210 crore dues in income tax dues in 2018-19 were claimed to be unpaid. The bank account of the Congress was seized on that charge.

A few days after the incident, party treasurer Ajay Maken said that Rs 65 crore had been forcibly withdrawn from various bank accounts of the Congress.

In the press conference, Rahul said that the delay in submitting the accounts to the Income Tax Department was resolved a month ago. What is being done now is keeping an eye on the polls. According to the income tax department, the discrepancy is only Rs.14 lakh. But the punishment? crippling economically.

Rahul said, we have already wasted a month doing all this. It is a heinous crime. The prime minister and home minister are committing that crime. But neither the court nor the election commission is saying anything. They have not only seized the bank account of the Congress, they have seized the entire democracy of the country. We cannot advertise, cannot send leaders to different places.
