Gun attack in Pakistan, 7 salon workers killed

Seven people were killed in a gun attack in Pakistan’s southwestern province of Balochistan. Another person was injured in this incident.

The incident took place at Surbandar in Gwadar district of Balochistan on Wednesday (May 8) night. All the casualties were reported to be employees of a local salon.

According to the report of the newspaper The Dawn, the gunmen attacked the local residential quarter around 3 pm on Wednesday. The victims were sleeping at that time.

Gwadar Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Zohaib Mohsin said the deceased worked in a salon at Surbandar, about 25 km from Gwadar. All the deceased are residents of Khanewal and Lodhran districts of Punjab. On the other hand, the injured person is a resident of Mia Channu area of ​​Khanewal.

After the incident, the police shifted the injured to Gwadar Hospital. SSP Mohsin said that security forces have surrounded the spot and investigation is on. An operation has already been launched to trace the attackers.

Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Gwadar Hamudur Rahman said that the bodies were delivered to the families in four ambulances. And the injured person was shifted to Karachi after first aid.

Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti has expressed deep grief over the incident. Strongly condemning the incident, he termed it as ‘open terrorism’. He also promised to provide all possible support to the families of the victims and to give appropriate punishment to the attackers.

Meanwhile, Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif expressed his condolences to the families of the victims besides condemning the attack. In a statement, he said, this attack is a cowardly act of the enemies of the country. We are determined to root out terrorism.
