Heavy rain in India due to Remal, train movement stopped

Due to the impact of Cyclone Remal, there is heavy rain in various districts of West Bengal, India. Huge waves of rough sea are crashing on the beach. Due to the fall of trees on the railway line in the storm, train movement has stopped. On Monday (May 27), the Indian media Anandabazar reported this information.

According to the report, Kolkata is affected by the storm and rain that started from Sunday night. Due to the calamity, the train movement on the Sealdah South Branch has been stopped since Monday morning.

Railway sources said that trees are lying on the railway line at various places. As a result, apart from train movement, metro services are also being disrupted.

According to news media Anandabazar Patrika, several trains of the Sialgah South Branch have been canceled since Monday morning. Although the train was scheduled to run from morning, it has not started yet. The authorities could not even clarify when rail traffic would be normal.

Railway sources said it will take time for normalization of services. After removing the tree from the railway line and checking the track, the train will start running. However, it is not clear how long it will take due to adverse weather conditions. Apart from this, at least 10 trains have been canceled on Monday as well.

Not only the trains, but also the metro users are suffering. Metro services were also disrupted due to the storm. Trains are running from Dakshineshwar to Girish Park and Taliganj to Kavi Subhash station from Monday morning.

According to the report, the authorities had informed in advance that the train movement will be stopped from 11 pm on Sunday to 6 am on Monday. However, the train movement was not normal till 9 am on Monday. Local trains are stuck at many stations since night. The Sealdah South Branch rail service connects Kolkata with South 24 Parganas. Cyclone Rimal has had the most impact in this district. Many trees were uprooted by the storm. The electric pole has fallen. There are trees lying on the railway line at various places.
