“If alive, I will give a decision within 10 days”

Additional Sessions Judge Afzal Majoka of the Islamabad District and Sessions Court has adjourned the hearing of the appeal filed by former Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi seeking suspension of sentence in the Iddat case.

He said, “If I am alive, I will take a decision within 10 days. If the other party does not appear, I will still take the decision.’

This information was given in a report of Sama TV on Friday.

According to the report, PTI founder Bushra Bibi’s legal team including Khalid Yusuf Chowdhury and Usman Riaz Gul were present in the court at that time.

Earlier, PTI’s lawyers submitted the written order of the Islamabad High Court on Thursday.

Meanwhile, Usman Riaz Gul requested the court to hold the hearing the next day (Friday) and said, “You will find us today, if you want, you can listen to us today.”

In response, Judge Afzal Majoka said, “I downloaded and read the judgment of the High Court last night.” It has been asked to take a decision on the suspension of the sentence by June 27.

Judge Majoka said, ‘Tomorrow (Friday) it is not possible; You set the date for next Friday. If I am alive, I will announce the decision within 10 days. If the other party does not appear, I will take a decision after listening to you.

I am writing the order. Surely something big will happen; History will be made’, judge Majoka concluded his speech.

Earlier, on Thursday, the High Court ordered the lower court to decide within 10 days on their plea seeking stay of sentence in the iddat case. At the same time, the High Court has also ordered to dispose of the application challenging the sentence within one month.

On February 3, Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi were sentenced to seven years in jail by a temporary court in Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail for marrying in violation of Sharia law without completing the Iddat period.

The court sentenced Imran and Bushra in the case filed by Bushra Bibi’s ex-husband Khawar Manekar.

In the case, Maneka alleged that Bushra Bibi married Imran Khan without completing the prescribed period (iddat) after divorcing him, which is a clear violation of Sharia law.
