Imran Khan and his wife remanded for 8 days

Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi, the former Prime Minister of Pakistan, are not leaving any legal problems behind. On Saturday, the couple was arrested again in the Toshakhana corruption case after not being acquitted in the Iddat case. Today both have been remanded for 8 days in that case.

A Pakistani court ordered this on Sunday. On this day, Judge Mohammad Ali Waraich of Sessions Judge Court held a hearing in the temporary court established in Adiala Jail.

Earlier on Saturday night, the Imran couple was again arrested on the orders of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB).

On Saturday, Judge Afzal Majoka of the Additional District and Sessions Judge’s Court in Islamabad acquitted the Imran Khan couple in the Iddat case. After this, it was assumed that there is no obstacle in the way of Imran Khan and his wife’s release from prison.

But Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) spokesperson Ahmed Janjua said that the two (Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi) will still be in jail.

Meanwhile, immediately after the verdict, an anti-corruption watchdog led by NAB Deputy Director Mohsin Haroon arrested the couple in Adiala Jail on charges of abuse of power to accept Toshakhana’s gifts.

Recently, a 13-member bench of the Supreme Court declared the PTI eligible for allotment of reserved seats in the National Assembly of Pakistan. After securing an important legal victory with the acquittal in the Iddat case on Saturday, party activists awaited the release of their founder. If that were to happen, it would be a matter of great encouragement for the leaders and supporters of the former ruling party.

But that did not happen, the NAB and the court have crushed the hope of PTI supporters. The accountability court today ordered NAB to interrogate Imran Khan and his wife who are incarcerated in Adiala Jail. Also, the couple has been asked to appear in court on July 22.

Former Prime Minister’s lawyer Zaheer Abbas Chowdhury while talking to mediapersons said today that NAB had applied for 14-day physical remand against PTI founder Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi. In view of that, the court granted 8 days remand. At this time, Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi Adiala will remain in jail.

This legal consultant of PTI said that the Imran Khan couple is expected to be presented in the court again on July 22.
