Imran Khan filed a petition in the court

Imprisoned former Prime Minister of Pakistan and founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan has filed a petition in court to prevent his possible transfer to military custody for trial.

The petition was filed in the Lahore High Court on Thursday (July 25).

After the arrest of Imran Khan on May 9 last year, widespread violence spread across the country. On that day, apart from various government buildings, several military installations including the cantonment were also attacked, vandalized and set on fire. A hearing was held in the Lahore High Court regarding Imran Khan’s plea against remand in 12 criminal cases related to the violence. At that time, this petition was filed again.

Imran Khan’s lawyer Uzair Karamat filed the petition in the Lahore High Court. The federal government and inspector generals (IGs) of four provinces are named defendants in the case.
