Imran Khan got big news

Former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan and his PTI leaders have been acquitted of two cases of violence.

On Monday (May 20), Judicial Magistrates Murid Abbas and Shahzad Khan pronounced the verdict after arguments in the case registered in Karachi Companies and Kohsar.

Two years ago, Imran Khan and his party leaders were booked by the police on charges of violence, rioting, disrupting public services and mischief with fire or explosives during the May 25 ‘Azadi March’ protests.

Apart from Imran Khan, PTI leader Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Qasim Suri, Zartaj Gul, Ali Nawaz Awan, Faisal Javed, Shireen Mazari, Saifullah Niazi, Asad Omar and Awami Muslim League Chairman Sheikh Rashid have been acquitted in these cases.

The court acquitted them nearly two years after they were booked on charges of violence, rioting, obstructing public services and mischief with fire or explosives.

After the hearing of Imran Khan’s plea seeking exemption from the case, the verdict said that there is not enough evidence against Imran Khan. The evidence available to the court is not sufficient to prove the allegations.

A district and sessions court in Islamabad sentenced the former prime minister to three years in prison on August 5 last year on charges of corruption in the purchase and sale of state gifts. He is currently in Adiala jail in Rawalpindi.
