Imran Khan threatened the army chief about his wife Bushra

Former Prime Minister of Pakistan and founder of Tehreek-e-Insaf Party (PTI) Imran Khan said that Army Chief General Asim Munir will be held responsible if anything happens to his wife Bushra Bibi.

PTI said this by quoting Imran Khan in a tweet shared on their verified page on social media X around 3:19 PM on Tuesday.

There Imran Khan said, ‘General Asim Munir is directly involved in accusing my wife. The judge said he was forced to make the decision at gunpoint. I will hold Asim Munir responsible for any harm to my wife. I will forever stand behind Asim Munir and expose his unconstitutional and illegal activities.’

Originally a tweet shared by Imran Khan’s spokesperson Intezer Hossain Panjutha, this quote from Imran Khan was written in its caption. Panjutha’s tweet expressed concern over Imran Khan’s wife Bushra’s health.

Earlier on April 1, the Islamabad High Court suspended the sentence of former Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi in the Toshakhana corruption case. A division bench comprising Chief Justice Amer Farooq, Justice Mia Gulhasan Aurangzeb gave the order after hearing an appeal filed by Imran Khan against the verdict in the Toshakhana case.

On January 31 this year, the special anti-corruption court in Islamabad sentenced Imran Khan and his wife to prison. In addition to the prison sentence, the court also disqualified Imran Khan and his wife from holding any public office for the next 10 years and ordered them to pay a fine of around 790 million Pakistani rupees.

Later, on February 1, another court sentenced Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi to another seven years in prison in the Iddat case related to their marriage. Prior to these two cases, Imran Khan and his government’s foreign minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi were sentenced to 10 years in jail in the Saifar case.

In December last year, Pakistan’s anti-corruption agency, the National Accountability Bureau, filed a new case alleging that Imran Khan understated the price of a set of jewelery he received from a Saudi crown prince. Later in January this year, Imran Khan and his wife were accused in this case.
