Imran Khan will fight against Blair-Johnson sitting in jail
Former Pakistan Prime Minister and Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan has submitted nomination papers to contest for the post of Chancellor of Oxford University, UK. As he is currently imprisoned in a political case, a representative submitted this nomination on his behalf. It has been said by his party that Imran Khan will fight for the post of chancellor from prison.
But not only Imran Khan, former British Prime Minister Tony Blair and Boris Johnson will fight for this post.
Imran Khan’s adviser PTI leader Zulfikar Bukhari said, “On the instructions of Imran Khan, his application form has been submitted for the election of Chancellor of Oxford University 2024. We look forward to everyone’s support for a historic campaign. People are interested in Imran Khan. Therefore, he will fight for the post of Chancellor of Oxford University.
According to the news of the British media Guardian, the responsibility of choosing the chancellor lies with the convocation members of the University of Oxford. Anyone wishing to contest for the post of Chancellor must be nominated by at least two members of the Convocation to be considered eligible.
Regarding the election of the chancellor, the website of the University of Oxford states that the convocation will be asked to elect a new chancellor through an online ballot on October 28 in the third week of the autumn term. The new Chancellor will hold the post for 10 years. Traditionally the post of Chancellor is reserved for university graduates.
Notably, Imran Khan graduated from Oxford in 1975 with philosophy, politics and economics. Later Pakistan’s World Cup winning captain Imran Khan served as the Chancellor of Bradford University from 2005 to 2014.
