Imran Khan's Uturn

Imran Khan, the founder of Pakistan’s one-time ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), has made it clear that there will be no dialogue with ‘any toothless ruler’. Now PTI is withdrawing from this decision.

Imran Khan on Tuesday directed party top brass to call for dialogue with the government this time to end the political deadlock.

According to a report published in the Pakistani newspaper Dawn, Imran Khan discussed with PTI leaders that PTI should start talks with the government and solve its problems in Parliament through dialogue.

After meeting with Imran Khan, PTI leader Gohar Ali Khan told reporters outside Adiala Jail.

He said the former prime minister (Imran Khan) has given permission to go ahead for talks with the government. He said the party would initially take its allies into confidence.
The PTI leader claimed that the delegation that went to meet Imran Khan requested that the political parties should initiate talks as “differences are growing”. Imran Khan agreed after hearing the matter.

Responding to a question, Gohar Ali Khan said PTI has never ‘refused’ to talk to anyone. Negotiation or dialogue should not be considered as an agreement or weakness of the team.

He also claimed that Imran Khan is willing to engage in dialogue with political parties and is “ready to forgive what happened to him and for the sake of the country”.

In 2022, Imran Khan was ousted after losing the parliamentary no-confidence vote. Dozens of cases have since been filed in his name, including charges of inciting violence against the state.
