Imran's party protests, Article 144 imposed in Punjab

The Punjab government has issued Section 144 in protest demanding the release of former Prime Minister of Pakistan and Tehreek-e Insaf Pakistan chief Imran Khan. The protests were scheduled to take place across the country on Friday. Imran Khan is imprisoned in Adila Jail.

The Punjab Home Department said Section 144 has been issued with immediate effect. It will be valid for next 7 days.

Section 144 covers gatherings, public gatherings, rallies, processions, demonstrations and all kinds of demonstrations. Meanwhile, PTI said that the police carried out rampage by illegally raiding the houses of PTI leaders.

Opposition leader Omar Ayub spoke about the promulgation of Article 144 in the National Parliament. He protested against the promulgation of Article 144 and urged Deputy Speaker Ghulam Mustafa Shah to repeal Article 144 as a violation of the Constitution.

PTI spokesperson Rauf Hasan condemned the repeal of Article 144. Calling it shameful, he said it is an expression of how scared the government is of Imran Khan. He also mentioned that this decision of the government will only energize the PTI supporters.

PTI spokesperson said, Imran Khan will win, people of Pakistan will win, Pakistan will win. Nothing can stop them from realizing their dreams.
