India will be the most populous country in the world for another 100 years: UN

According to one statistic, the population of India is 142 crores. As a result, India was recognized as the most populous country in the world last year. This was recognized by the United Nations. Recently, the world’s largest global organization has released new data on India’s population.

The United Nations released a report on global population on Thursday. It has been said that India will hold the record of the world’s most populous country for at least another hundred years.

According to the report named ‘The World Population Prospects 2024’, the population of the whole world including India will continue to increase for the next 50 to 60 years and this growth will reach its peak in 2084-85 or 2086. At that time the world’s population will reach 10,000,300,000. Then the population will begin to decrease again and at the end of this century – in 2100 the world population will be 10,000,200,000.

It is also said that if the current rate of population growth in India is maintained, the population of India will reach 145 crores by the end of 2024. This number will continue to increase until 2060. That year the population will reach 170 crore.

After reaching the final stage, the population will start to decrease, but its rate will not be very high. In 2100, the country’s population will be a little over 1.5 million. As a percentage, India’s population will decline by 12 percent between 2060 and 2100.

But still India will be the most populous country in the world till the end of the century. Because at the moment no other country in the world is very close to India in terms of population growth rate.

The United Nations has been listing the world’s most populous countries since 1950. India occupied the top position in that list in 2024.

However, although China once topped the world population list, it has been possible to control the population due to the strict adherence to the one child policy for several decades. But now the biggest problem facing the country is the excess of old people compared to the working youth.

Meanwhile, although the United Nations has spoken about the population of India, the Indian government does not know exactly how many people live in the country now. Because after 2011 there was no more census in India. A new census is scheduled to be held in 2021, but it has to be postponed due to the Corona epidemic.

According to the UN report, 1/4 of India’s current population is under 14 years of age. 68 percent of the total population is between 15 and 64 years of age. And 7 percent are above 65 years of age.
