Indian billionaire's daughter arrested in Uganda, who is Bashundhara

Uganda police have arrested Bashundhara in a case related to the alleged kidnapping and murder of Mukesh Menaria, an employee of the Oswal family. Mukesh was responsible for all the houses of the Oswal family around the world, including a private plane.

Bashundhara Oswal, the daughter of Pankaj Oswal, an Indian-origin billionaire from Switzerland, has been arrested in the East African country of Uganda for more than three weeks.

Ugandan police have arrested her in a case related to the alleged kidnapping and murder of Mukesh Menaria, an employee of the Oswal family. Mukesh was responsible for all the houses of the Oswal family around the world, including a private plane.

Mukesh, who came from Rajasthan, had been working with the Oswal family since 2017. But recently, there was acrimony between them.

After Mukesh went missing, allegations were leveled against Bashundhara. Allegedly, Mukesh was first kidnapped and then murdered. However, the Oswal family claims that Mukesh is alive and currently in Tanzania.

Bashundhara was born in 1999. The daughter of wealthy Swiss businessmen Pankaj and Radhika Oswal, Bashundhara is an important member of the ‘Oswal Group Global’ group.

Bashundhara studied ‘Finance’ from a Swiss university. The executive director of Axis Minerals, Bashundhara is also responsible for investment decisions, financial supervision and government relations of various companies in her group.

Bashundhara has built a carbon dioxide capturing plant. She has also taken initiatives to supply recycled water to various beverage companies.

According to several media reports, the assets of the Oswal family are around 2 lakh 47 thousand crores. Recently, they bought a world-famous estate ‘Villa Hari’ in Switzerland for around 1,649 crores.

The daughter of that wealthy family is in jail in the East African country. Bashundhara had been managing her family’s factory in Uganda for the past three years. On October 1, the police arrested her from one of their family’s liquor factories.

The Oswal family alleged that ’20 armed men’ came to arrest Bashundhara. The armed men identified themselves as Ugandan police and arrested her.

The Ugandan police have arrested Bashundhara on several charges, including criminal and commercial crimes. Bashundhara’s family alleges that she was arrested ‘illegally’. The Oswal family has also claimed that her arrest is a ‘corporate and political conspiracy’.

The Oswal family has also claimed that the charges against Bashundhara are ‘false’. Their business competitors allegedly did this in collusion with the Ugandan authorities.

The Oswalds also claim that Bashundhara, who was arrested for the murder of Mukesh, is alive and currently living in Tanzania. Despite this, the Ugandan authorities have refused to release Bashundhara.

The Ugandan authorities claim that Bashundhara was arrested in a missing person case. She has been in jail for more than three weeks since then.

According to various media reports, Mukesh, a former employee of the Oswalds, was kidnapped in Uganda and then smuggled to Tanzania. Mukesh was allegedly arrested at Shaka police station near the Ugandan border.

On the other hand, the tycoon’s family alleges that after Bashundhara was arrested, the police took away her phone and did not allow her to contact her lawyer and family.

At the same time, the Oswalds allege that she is being given bad food and forced to live in unsanitary conditions in prison.

Allegedly, Bashundhara is not being allowed to eat vegetarian food in jail and is being transferred from one prison to another without prior notice. A picture was recently posted from Bashundhara’s Instagram handle. In that picture, it is seen that blood and feces are lying on the floor of the cell where Bashundhara is being held in jail.

The post claims that Bashundhara was forced to sit in a room full of shoes for over 90 hours and was not allowed to bathe or change clothes for almost five days.

Pankaj and Radhika have already started working to free their daughter from this situation. In a petition to the ‘United Nations Working Group on Arbitrary Detention (WGAD),’ Pankaj has called for immediate action against his daughter’s detention.

Pankaj’s family has alleged in the UN office that Bashundhara was detained without any formal charges.

It is worth noting that along with Bashundhara, Rita Ngabir, the attorney of the Oswalds’ company, has also been taken into custody.
