India's discussion with Britain about the situation in Bangladesh

After the fall of Sheikh Hasina’s government in the face of intense student movement, Indian Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar discussed the current events in Bangladesh with British Foreign Minister David Lammy.

Jaishankar said this in a post on his X handle (formerly Twitter) on Thursday.

In that post, he wrote, today I received a call from UK Foreign Minister David Lammy. The situation in Bangladesh and West Asia was discussed.

However, neither India nor the UK has publicly commented on Sheikh Hasina’s next destination.

The ousted former Prime Minister of Bangladesh is currently in a secure address in Delhi.

His son Sajib Wazed Joy has denied claims that he has sought political asylum in the UK, which has been rejected.
