In 2021, India’s Ministry of Defense signed a $2.5 billion deal with Airbus Defense and Space to buy 56 C295 cargo and troop transport aircraft.
Of these, 16 aircraft were built in Spain and delivered to India last year. The remaining 40 will be manufactured in India. The first Made in India C295 aircraft will be manufactured at the Vadodara factory in 2026.
