It's Modi's India, not Bangladesh: Gajendra Singh Shekhawat

Recently, after the fall of Sheikh Hasina, the future of India is being discussed. India’s Union Tourism Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat has strongly criticized commentators who say that many opposition leaders say – ‘Situation like Bangladesh can happen in India too’. He said, this is not Bangladesh, this is India, Modi’s India.

Indian media NDTV reported this information in a report on Sunday (August 11).

Gajendra Singh Shekhawat said that some people are commenting that a situation like Bangladesh will be created in India. This is unfortunate. Those who ‘expect’ a Bangladesh-like situation in India should realize that this is not Bangladesh, this is Narendra Modi’s India.

Although Shekhawat did not name anyone while making this statement, he said this in apparent contrast to recent comments by senior Congress leaders Salman Khurshid and Mani Shankar Aiyar.

It is to be noted that Khurshid said at a book release ceremony last Tuesday, “Although everything seems normal on the surface”, what is happening in Bangladesh can happen in India. Besides, Iyer also compared the situation of Bangladesh with India.

Regarding the situation in Bangladesh, Shekhawat said that what happened in Bangladesh was “unexpected and unacceptable”. The Government of India is constantly monitoring it. The situation should improve once law and order is properly restored.
